Cannabis Laws in Utah

Is weed legal in Utah? Medical only — cannabis is legal for registered medical patients, but not for general adult use.

Utah allows medical cannabis only, approved by voters in 2018, with no recreational use and no home cultivation. Registered patients with a qualifying condition can buy from licensed medical cannabis pharmacies and possess up to a 30-day supply. Recreational use remains illegal.

Federally, cannabis is still a controlled substance nationwide — but that status is in flux. See where rescheduling stands →
