Cannabis Laws in Louisiana

Is weed legal in Louisiana? Medical only — cannabis is legal for registered medical patients, but not for general adult use.

Louisiana has a medical-only cannabis program, with products dispensed through a limited number of state-licensed pharmacies. Registered patients can obtain up to 2.5 ounces of smokable flower every 14 days or a 30-day supply of other approved products. There is no adult-use program and home cultivation is prohibited.

Federally, cannabis is still a controlled substance nationwide — but that status is in flux. See where rescheduling stands →
