Cannabis Laws in Nebraska
Is weed legal in Nebraska? Medical only — cannabis is legal for registered medical patients, but not for general adult use.
Nebraska voters legalized medical cannabis in 2024 (Initiatives 437/438), but the program is still being built out and no dispensary sales were available as of mid-2026. The first cultivation licenses were issued in October 2025 and the legislature passed its first implementing law in April 2026, while dispensary licensing timelines remained unsettled. Home cultivation is not permitted.
Federally, cannabis is still a controlled substance nationwide — but that status is in flux. See where rescheduling stands →
