Cannabis Laws in Pennsylvania

Is weed legal in Pennsylvania? Medical only — cannabis is legal for registered medical patients, but not for general adult use.

Pennsylvania has a medical-only cannabis program (Act 16 of 2016) with one of the largest patient counts in the nation and 185+ dispensaries; recreational adult-use is not legal. Registered patients may possess a physician-authorized supply but cannot grow at home. Adult-use legalization has repeatedly failed in the legislature.

Federally, cannabis is still a controlled substance nationwide — but that status is in flux. See where rescheduling stands →
