Cannabinoids
What is THC (Delta-9-THC)?
THC (delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol) is the main psychoactive compound in cannabis, responsible for the plant’s intoxicating "high."
THC is the cannabinoid most associated with cannabis’s mind-altering effects, which it produces by binding to CB1 receptors in the brain and nervous system. It exists in raw plant material mostly as its non-intoxicating acid form, THCA, and converts to active THC when heated. THC potency is typically listed on product labels as a percentage of flower weight or in milligrams for edibles.
