What is Terpenes?
Terpenes are aromatic compounds in cannabis and many other plants that give each cultivar its distinctive smell and flavor.
Terpenes such as myrcene, limonene, and pinene are produced in the plant’s trichomes alongside cannabinoids and create aromas ranging from citrus to pine to diesel. Beyond scent, terpenes are widely believed to influence the character of cannabis’s effects as part of the entourage effect, though this interaction is still being studied. Lab reports often list a product’s terpene profile by percentage.
